Honestly O’Reilly, this is your moment with me. You’ve crossed the Rubicon in my mind for political commentary. I fully understand why people despise you. I could have given you a pass for saying on the view “Muslims attacked us on 9-11” I could say to myself that it was the heat of the argument and it was a hyperbolic statement to service a larger point. It all falls apart though when you take to your own platform. After a full day and a half to reflect on the matter instead of parsing your statement to not indict 1.57 BILLION people in the world for the actions of 19 hijackers and a small collection of drug dealing sociopaths with a penchant for killing innocents to see their names in print because they are such attention whores (AKA
or Al Qaeda) you instead say your “tired of the political correctness surrounding the 9/11 attack. The truth is that if moderate Muslims around the world stood with Americans against radical Islam, the terrorists couldn’t exist.”
When I first read this statement I was outraged because again he just accused 1.57 Billion people of murder. Not just the radicals, in fact quite the opposite he blamed the moderates for the murder, including the ones who speak out and condemn the drug dealing sociopaths with a penchant for killing innocents to see their names in print because they are such attention whores. This is beyond hyperbolic, this is down right insane. If the moderates that speak out against this bullshit are culpable what does that make you O’Reilly. You’re Catholic does that make you responsible for the sex abuses some priests have inflicted on kids? By your rationale they exist because you’re not standing with the children. And what about the instances where you’re not even remotely moderate. If the moderates are responsible for 9-11 shouldn’t you be turning yourself over to the AG for the assassination of Dr Tiller?
If discussion is to continue in this country moderates cannot be marginalized. I admit I’m not a moderate; I’m vehemently progressive however I wouldn’t dare malign actual moderates. Moderates are the only people who can get things done they are the ones willing to work for progress. I will advocate fiercely for my path, but I understand that compromise in the middle must be reached.
